Ellie Kollme

Hi! My name is Ellie, and I am an aspiring journalist with a passion for telling meaningful, human-centered stories. My journalism experience spans various fields, including business reporting, opinion writing, and profile storytelling. I believe the heart of journalism lies in the people we write about, and I strive to bring their voices to life through my work.

I also have a strong interest in outdoor adventure and aim to combine my love for nature with my passion for journalism. With experience in photography and photojournalism, I’m excited to explore visual storytelling as a complement to my writing as well.

Currently, I am a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, double majoring in media and journalism and psychology. This unique combination helps me better understand and connect with people, enabling me to build trust and craft more authentic and vulnerable stories.

When I’m not busy in school or writing, I can usually be found outdoors. Whether playing tennis or pickleball on the court or backpacking in the mountains during the summer, I thrive on connecting with nature. One of my most rewarding experiences has been serving as a trip leader, as it allows me to share my love for the outdoors with younger kids and inspire them to explore the world around them.
